The Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa-Naa Abukari II, has commended Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for exhibiting sterling leadership traits that culminated into the implementation of many flagship progremmes including peace building.
“These people-centered policies and progremmes have won you the admiration of many Ghanaians”, the Yaa-Naa added.
According to the Yaa-Naa “the people of Dagbon will continue to cherish your outstanding leadership achievement in facilitating the performance of our Kingdom’s landmark funerals, which paved the way for the enskinment of a new Yaa-Naa in 2019, and the restoration of relative peace to Dagbon”.
Welcoming the President to the Gbewaa Palace as part of the President’s two-day tour of the Northern Region, the Yaa-Naa said “this singular achievement has won you great trust in the minds of Ghanaians and Dagombas to be precise despite the fact that certain individuals continue to undermine your efforts through spoiler behaviors and machinations”.
The Yaa-Naa also assured President Akufo-Addo that, “the Gbewaa Palace will look forward to work with you in your second term to address the few remaining security threats to the Dagbon Traditional State.”
The Dagbon State, the Yaa-Naa added “under my leadership, will continue to support your government to succeed and provide quality and principled leadership for our Region and country, to make Ghana a better place.”
Commending the President for his exploits in the agricultural sector, the Yaa-Naa however lamented over the reports of the lack of essential farm inputs in the farming districts across Northern Ghana.
“I therefore like to appeal to your Excellency to take a serious look at the agriculture inputs supply regime this year and take appropriate measures to ensure the full flow of fertilizer in the system”.
The President Nana Akufo-Addo thanked the Yaa-Naa for the work he has done in promoting reconciliation in Dagbon since his enstoolment as Overlord of Dagbon, and also expressed his appreciation for the support given him and the New Patriotic Party in the December 2020 elections.
He indicated to the Yaa-Naa that, “it is a matter of great delight for me to see you sitting on this ancient skin over a united Dagbon. It is something that we have dreamt about for years, but today it is a reality.”
The President also announced to the Ya-Naa that he has taken the decision to appoint the MP for Yendi. Hon. Farouk Aliu Mahama, as replacement to the late Prince Imoro Andani as Board Chair of the Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation.
The Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation was established to oversee the exploitation, development and transformation of the iron ore deposits in Sheini and Oppon-Manso.
He also assured the Yaa-Naa of appointing many other Dagombas to serve in various capacities in his government since he is constructing his government for his second term.
