Tolon MP gives financial support worth Ghc600,000 to 500 tertiary students in his constituency

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Tolon Constituency, Alhaji Habib Iddrisu, through his Soya-Lana Education and Endowment Fund has given financial support to over 500 tertiary students from the constituency to cover the payment of their tuition fees.

The beneficiary students, drawn from across the constituency, received a full package of their tuition fees. 

A total of six hundred thousand Ghana cedis (GHS 600,000) was disbursed to the students from the Soya-Lana Education and Endowment Fund.

The 500 beneficiaries’ students currently pursuing various courses at the country’s public universities, colleges of education and nursing training colleges and other institutions including; Nursing, Midwifery, Pharmacy, Business Administration, Social Communication, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Diploma in Education, Statistics and Mathematics, Agricultural Sciences amongst others.

This is the third time, the MP through his Educational and Endowment Fund is supporting the needy students in his constituency. 

At a short ceremony in Tolon, Alhaji Habib said since the inception of the fund, over one thousand and twenty-four (1024) students had benefited from the fund.

He said financial constraints have been a major obstacle for many bright young minds, forcing them to abandon their educational aspirations and settle for a life that is far below their potential, and that as an elected representative of the people, he must bridge this gap and provide opportunities for growth and development hence the support.

  The Deputy Majority Chief Whip while recounting how he suffered while growing up thus urged the beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity and not let it go to waste and encouraged them to pursue their dreams with passion, immerse themselves in knowledge, and strive for excellence in everything they do.

“You have no reason to fail. I was like you some years back, and you can be like us some years to come. 

He reiterated his commitment to the development and education of the youth in the Tolon constituency.

The Secretary of the Fund Professor Hudu, in his welcome remarks, thanked the MP for his support towards the education of needy but brilliant students in the constituency.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to diamondfmonline.com lauded the Tolon MP gesture and pledged to make the MP and the entire constituency proud by using their knowledge acquired to impact their various communities.
