Tolon: Alhaji Habib Iddrisu connects Gbambaya and Katingdaa to the national grid

An aspiring parliamentary candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tolon constituency, Alhaji Habib Iddrisu has on Thursday 16t March 2020 connected Gbambaya community and Katingdaa  to the national grid

The connection of the Gbambaya community and katingdaa to the national grid was made possible through the initiative of Alhaji Habib Iddrisu, who fully funded the project at a total cost of GH¢ Two million,, and it also formed part of his efforts towards ensuring that all communities within the constituency are connected to the national grid.

Street lights were installed at the katingdaa and Gbambaya community whiles about hundreds of LED bulbs were also distributed to the community members.

Alhaji Habib, speaking at the short ceremony held at Gbambaya chief palace, said the extension of electricity to the community and the market was to help improve on the standard of living of the people in the area.

He noted that the development of every community depended on electricity, good roads, potable drinking water, education and health.

He expressed the hope that the electrification project would go a long way to enhance the socio economic activities at night at the katingdaa  and also enable students at Gbambaya to study at night to improve on their academic performance.

“Gbamabya is a community that has shown loyalty to our party for a decades, and therefore there is the need to provide them electricity to help them improve their lives. This is a project that is fully funded by me, it is not government,  District assembly or MP that sponsored it, as it has been speculated,” he stated .

The aspiring NPP parliamentary candidate, in an interview with www.diamondfmonline.com, said the electrification project will soon start at Zantani ,a farming community in the Tolon Constituency. “The engineers have already inspected the community and so very soon the work will begin”, he noted

He said his outfit has put  strategic measures in place to construct mechanized bore-holes across the constituency to provide portable water for the people of Tolon constituency when given  the nod, saying he has since secured six mechanized boreholes projecst for six communities in the constituency.

 “I have secured six mechanized boreholes projects for six communities in the constituency and very soon work will start. Infact,this constituency is dear to my heart and so I will do anything to transform the lives of people in this constituency when given the nod, he pledged.


“This is just the beginning, my goal is to provide every community in this constituency with their fair share of development, he assured.

Alhaji Habib stated that once electricity had become a thing of the past for the community, the roads and potable drinking water would be his next target for the beneficiary communities.

The chiefs and people of the Gbambaya community and the market women at katingdaa who could not hide their joy, immediately the lights were switched on, expressed their gratitude to Alhaji Habib Iddrisu for coming to their aid

Mma Asana, a resident at Gbambaya community told diamondfmonline.com how the women are the happiest as they will no longer have to walk long distances to the grinding mill.

”We are so grateful to Alhaji Habib. He is one in a million. Aspiring candidates have come and gone, but Alhaji Habib stands tall amongst all. We the women here will be the beneficiaries because we used to travel to long distances to grind our maize for food, but now it’s going to be a thing of the past. We can have enough time to do other things and not think of going far to look for grinding mill.”

”We are happy that Alhaji Habib has extended electricity to us, we now feel like Ghanaians, what we are saying is we are calling on the delegates to give their mandate to him to enable him continue his good work in the constituency.
