Shaykhu Dalhu donates sewing machines in honor of Sayyida Fatima (S.A)

The Shia Muslim Community in Tamale under the leadership of Shaykhu Dalhu Abdul-Mumin as part of activities to mark the birthday of Sayyida Fatima Az-Zahra (SA) over the weekend donated sewing machines to some selected young ladies within the Tamale Metropolis.

The beneficiary young ladies, who have not had the opportunity to acquire formal education but are with the desire to learn skills were drawn from four (4) electoral areas including Aboabo, Zogbeli, Hausa Zongo and Victory Cinema of the Tamale Metropolis. The beneficiaries received a sewing machine each from Shaykhu Dalhu to honor the birth anniversary of Sayyida Fatima (SA).

The beneficiaries after receiving their sewing machines were then assigned to a professional seamstress within the Tamale Metropolis for training to become seamstresses. It is expected that their progress shall be monitored and a report will be given at the next commemoration.

In his remarks Shaykhu Dalhu Abdul-Mumin who doubles as chief of the Hausa Zongo Community in Tamale, stated the importance and nobility of women in society as generously prescribed by Islam. Therefore, women need to be empowered and encouraged to live up to their best with recourse to modesty, which he said was therefore the reason for the donation.

For his part the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Chief Executive, Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, who was the guest speaker, noted the coincidence and unaccidental choice of Sayyida Fatima as part of the five (5) infallibles chosen by Allah to be models of emulation. Thus, Sayyida Fatima serves as a worthy model for females especially, to emulate.

He thus admonished the upcoming young ladies to emulate the lifestyle of Sayyida Fatima (AS) and shun away the western influences and philosophies of how women should live.

This year’s birth anniversary of Sayyida Fatima (SA) was attended by several Islamic scholars, traditional leaders among others.

In attendance were chiefs and members of the general public

Some of the Islamic scholars stated that, “the spiritual character of this righteous lady has a prominent and exalted position to the extent that Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) honoured her character by kissing her hands, which was meant to honour the position and dignity of all women in all periods and places to remove the dust of ignorance from the mirror of the ages and to obliterate the superstitions that disregarded the women,” they added.

The birthday of Hazrat Fatima (SA) the dear daughter of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) has been declared as Women’s Day in Iran in order to provide an opportunity to honour the position of women and to renew the covenant with the gracious thought and manners of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) about women and their position.
