Hajia Fathia Abdul-Aziz, a staffer at the Office of the President has filed her nomination forms to contest the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries in the Savulegu constituency.
Accompanied by a mammoth crowd and several personalities including the Mayor of Tamale Sule Salifu, the Northern Regional Women’s Organizer of NPP Hajia Rahana Abdul Aziz, former Savelegu constituency executives, some traditional leaders, and hundreds of NPP supporters in the Savelugu constituency were at the party office to witness the filing of Hajia Fathia Abdul Aziz, who they tipped as the favorite candidate among the three aspirants.
The first-time parliamentary aspirant, handed over her nomination forms to the Savelugu NPP executives after going through all the process required by the party.
In her remarks, Hajia Fathia, assured the party executives her readiness to run a decent campaign even in the midst of extreme provocation.
According to her, it is prudent for all supporters of the party to emulate humility, and not be provoked by utterances and actions of others. “I have been advising my supporters, even those managing my social media handles not to insult anybody regardless of any provocation”.
While assuring the party executives a decent campaign, Hajia Fathia also reaffirms her commitment to serve the people of Savelugu constituency with unwavering dedication and integrity when given the nod.
“Today marks a significant moment in our journey towards a brighter future for Savelugu constituency. I stand before you as an aspirant, humbled and grateful for the opportunity to represent the hopes and aspirations of this great community. With the submission of my nomination forms, I reaffirm my commitment to serve the people of Savelugu constituency with unwavering dedication and integrity”.
She said the motivation to run for this parliamentary seat stems from a deep-rooted desire to improve the lives of the people in the Savelegu constituency. “I have listened to your concerns, your dreams, and your aspirations, and I am determined to turn those into meaningful actions that uplift every corner of Savelugu constituency”.
She indicated that her outfit since 2017 has been able to secure several developmental projects and job opportunities for the people of Savelugu. She highlights the projects including the construction of 20 mechanized boreholes across the constituency, ongoing construction of an ultramodern Municipal National Health Insurance offices and construction of a Community Centre among others.
“I have been able to initiate and secure job opportunities such as fire service, GHAPOHA, Local Government for the youth of this constituency,” she added.
Hajia Fathia, touting her prowess and growing influence over the years said, “I have had the privilege of serving alongside senior officials of our dear party, gaining valuable experience and insights into the intricacies of governance and decision-making. If elected, this experience will place me in a favorable position to effectively lobby for essential projects and initiatives that will develop our beloved Savelugu constituency”.
She thus calls on the delegates in the Savelugu constituency to give her the mandate to lead the party in the constituency.
“I stand here today with a humble heart and an unwavering resolve to serve you, the people of Savelugu constituency. With your support and trust, I am confident that together, we will make Savelugu constituency a shining example of development and prosperity,” she called.
Hajia Fathia Abdul Aziz will face-off with Alhaji Nashiru Zakaria, and former Member of Parliament Alhaji Samed Gunu who was elected to parliament in 2016 but lost in the 2020 general election,
Meanwhile Hajia Fathia, after filing her nomination forms, exchanged pleasantries with some elders and youth of the party at their base. She also called on the paramount chief of the Savelugu traditional area Yoo Naa Abdulai Yakubu to seek his blessings.
