Residents of Golinga cries for authorities to work on the bridge linking the community to other communities in the area

Some residents of Golinga a farming community of the Tolon District in the Northern Region have expressed worry over the inability of authorities in the District to construct a bridge linking the community and other communities in the area

According to them the community is always cut off during the rainy season and that has beenaffecting their farming activities and makes living unbearable in the area

They claimed the area had been neglected for a long time and had not had its fair share of development because the bridge linking Golinga to Tamale had not been constructed as promised by Member of Parliament in the area, Hon. WahabSuhuyini during his electioneering campaign in 2016 when he visited the area.

The residents said the road linking Golinga and Nyankpala is also not constructed, and that also virtually cuts them off from other towns especially during the rainy season.

The people of Golinga are predominantly farmers who also practice irrigation farming and produce large quantities of food crops including maize, millet, groundnuts, maize and beans, but due to the bad nature of the roads in the area they find it difficult to cart their produce to market centers.

Speaking to Diamond News exclusively, the angry residents called on the member of parliament of the area to collaborate with the management of the Tolon District Assembly to construct the bridge to enable them transport their foodstuffs to urban areas most especially Tamale

The residents have therefore warned that they will not hesitate to hurl stones at the Member of Parliament, Hon.WahabSuhuyini, when he tries to campaign in the community should he fail to construct the bridge before the 2020 general elections

‘’He promised to construct the bridge, but we reminding  him to sick to his promise because if he fail we will not spare him as we did to the former MP we will hauled stones at him when  he try to campaign in this community , the residents warn’’
