Police arrest two persons in connection with missing government vehicle

The Northern Regional Police command has arrested two persons in connection with the missing Toyota Hulix pick-up belonging to the Savannah Regional Coordinating Council.

The two persons are; Alhaji Suleimana Illiasu who is the complainant and also the person in whose custody the vehicle went missing and Opoku Kwadjo Evans the driver who delivered the vehicle to Alhaji Suleimana Illiasu.

The Northern regional Police Public Relations Officer DSP Mohammed Yussif Tanko who confirmed the arrest to Diamond News said the two were picked up to adequately assist the police with investigations.

The Northern Regional Police command is however appealing to the public to assist with information that will aid in investigations leading to the retrieval of the vehicle and arrest of the armed men.

The Toyota Hulix pick-up with registration number ER 3516-19 went missing on July 6, 2019 after the Savannah regional Minster Adam Salifu transited Tamale to Accra on July 4 and placed the vehicle in the custody of Alhaji Suleimana Illiasu.

Alhaji Illiasu later reported to the Police on July 6 that at about 9:00 pm, two armed men stormed his house and took away the vehicle and his personal amount of Gh 200. 00 cedis.

He also claimed that, the robbers took away his two mobile phones and dropped him off at an unknown location before fleeing with the vehicle.

The Police has however intensified investigations into the matter.
