Some taskforce members who work for the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly, on Wednesday vented their anger on some hawkers and traders at the Aboabo market.
They destroyed particularly foodstuffs and took some wares belonging to the traders away. The angry taskforce members also succeeded in causing a dislocation in the arm of one of the women traders who were resisting the action of the taskforce, caught up in a confrontation with a rider of the engine powered tricycle known popularly as YELLOW YELLOW.
The confusion was borne out of the failure by the rider to renew his monthly operation toll to the assembly.
The market women, who couldn’t sit unconcerned as the rider was being manhandled by the taskforce, stepped in to intervene and rather ended up being victims in the fight.
When Diamond News visit the scene some of the market women who were coming out from the trauma, sat idling by, with some others declining to comment on the issue.
Meanwhile members of tricycle operators association in the Tamale metropolis, have threatened to go on a strike should city authorities and other opinion leaders fail to call the assembly’s taskforce to order.
