NPP goes to the polls to elect parliamentary candidates for orphaned constituencies across the country.

All is set for the Ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Primaries slated for Saturday, September 28th, across orphan’s constituencies in the northern region.

They are Orphaned constituencies, because the party has no Members of Parliament in those places.

The nine are Kumbungu, Mion, Karaga, Zabzugu, Sagnarigu, Tamale North, Tamale central, Tamale South and Tatale-Sangule

According to the Northern regional Secretary of NPP, Alhaji Sibdow Alhassan Yakubu, 29 candidates are vying to become parliamentary candidates for the nine orphan constituencies in the region

Alhaji Sibdow mentioned that the election, which would commence at 0900 hours to 1500 on Saturday would be organized by the Electoral Commission (EC) and assisted by the Party’s electoral Committee.

He added 4414 delegates are expected to participate in tomorrow’s process.

Meanwhile General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu, in a statement has indicated that the exercise would exclude six constituencies due to some compelling reasons.

They are Chereponi in the North-East Region, Krachi West in the Oti Region, Afajato South, Kpando Constituency, Anlo and Hohoe constituencies in the Volta Region.

The statement assured all stakeholders that the necessary arrangements were put in place for a successful conference.

The statement said the album that was used to elect the current constituency executives at the 2018 Constituency Annual Delegates Conference would be the same Album that would be used for the election.
