An aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Tamale South Constituency, Iddrisu Fuseini has admonished his supporters and other party faithfuls in the area to remain calm even in the midst of extreme provocation.
According to him as the internal elections of the NPP draws near, it is prudent for all supporters of the aspiring candidates in the Tamale South race to emulate humility, and not be provoked by utterances and actions of others.
The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), will on Saturday 28th September, go to the polls to elect parliamentary candidates at the “orphaned” constituencies in the country.
Speaking to Diamond News ahead of Saturday’s elections, Iddrisu Fuseini indicated that his two other contenders were his brothers, adding; “we are one big ELEPHANT family and we need to respect each other by prosecuting a decent campaign, devoid of vilification in order to ensure unity during and after the primaries in Tamale South”.
The NPP aspiring candidate, who is the Upper East Regional Director of the State Insurance Company (SIC), further pledged to support any candidate who emerged winner at the end of the primaries.
”I will support any candidate who emerges winner at the primaries. My campaign team and I have been running a decent campaign in the area because we knew very well that we need each other to retain the seat for our party and the people of Tamale South, because our incumbent MP failed to develop this constituency. Therefore everybody is important. So we need to respect others views to help us win the seat from NDC”, he added.
Iddrisu Fuseini still maintained he is the right candidate for NPP who can unseat the current Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Lawyer Haruna Iddrisu come 2020 general elections.
“Am contesting to win the seat for my party not just to be a parliamentary candidate for NPP, our constituency is lacking behind in terms of development because our MP has failed to carry out his mandatory duty in the constituency,” he lamented.
The Upper East Regional Director of SIC who is also a financier of the party in the constituency is vying to lead the party in the constituency for the first time and is optimistic that he will be winning the internal elections by a landslide victory.
He said empowering the youth will be his main priority and that includes supporting the needy and brilliant students in the constituency to undergo medical training outside Ghana.
Mr Iddrisu Fuseini also promised to support farmers in the constituency. He said he has been supporting farmers in the constituency and therefore will put much effort into supporting them when given the nod so that they can increase their yield.
Iddrisu Fuseini also pledged to unite the party in the constituency when given the nod.
Meanwhile, eight hundred and forty (840) delegates are expected to cast their votes at the Tamale South Constituency on Saturday, 28th September 2019.
