Muslims can attain the highest level of circular education and still have faith in Islam, Deputy Chief of Staff

Deputy Chief of Staff Alhaji Fawaz Aliu has stressed that Muslim children can attain the highest level of circular education and still have faith in Islam contrary to popular believe that Muslims that attain circular education often abandon their faith in Islam.

He thus urged Muslim parents to disregard such notion and take interest in the spiritual growth and proper education of their children in the circular education curricular to ensure they become responsible leaders in the near future.

Mr. Aliu lamented that, “it used to be the case that many Muslem parents were afraid to let their wards aspire to certain levels in circular education, the fear being that after gaining circular knowledge most scholars will abandon their faith in Islam and become very Western”

“Alhaji Farahan has proven that you can attain the highest level of circular education and yet your faith in Islam will still be in your heart”, he further explained.

While speaking at a ceremony to commission a mosque built by Alhaji Farahan as a donation to the Tamale Senior High School, the Deputy Chief of Staff thus urged parents to take interest in the spiritual life and personal values for their children to ensure proper upbringing of every child.

Alhaji Fawaz Aliu, who is also a former Assistant Secretary in charge of Foreign Relations in the Office of the President, also urged students to be obedient to both their teachers and parents at home and “serve as role models so that parents and the Muslim Umma will be proud to associate with you”.

Alhaji Fawaz, who is the first old Tamascan to serve as a deputy Chief of Staff was also Ghana’s delegate to the United Nations Committee on Social, Cultural and Humanitarian issues (Third Committee) in the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York.

Mr. Aliu, who holds a Master’s Degree in International Affairs has a wide range of experience and expertise in intergovernmental negotiations, public policy formulation, advocacy, leadership, management and administration.

His previous experience includes working in the Cabinet Secretariat of the Office of the President of the Republic of Ghana, Officer – in – Charge of the Northern Regional Biometric Passport Application Center where he administered the processing of applications for Ghanaian passports within the then three Northern Regions of Ghana.

Mr. Aliu is a Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Abshire – Inamori Leadership Academy (AILA) International Fellow.

He also holds an Executive Certificate from the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, Austria. He has undertaken a number of career/professional development training programmes and has been part of Ghana’s delegation to several international meetings, conferences and special missions. 

Born in Tamale Mr. Aliu is interested in issues of international political relations, public policy management, sustainable international development, conflict resolution and humanitarian crisis management.
