late Dakpema stood for peace – President Akuffo Addo

President Nana Akufo Addo says the only honor and memory of for the people to bequeath the late Tamale chief Dakpema Alhaji Alhassan Dawuni was to embrace lasting peace in Dagbon.

He stated that, the late Dakpema stood for peace and was committed to a successful resolution of the long standing chieftaincy crisis in Dagbon.

President Akufo Addo while addressing chiefs and a section of the public at the late Dakpema’s palace, when he made a stopover to commensurate with the family, challenged the Chiefs to continue the struggle for total and lasting peace in Dagbon as the late Dakpema would have done.

The President stressed that, he and his appointees were neutral in Dagbon matters, but are only interested in facilitating the peace process through the regional Minister for rapid development of the region.

In a response, the President said the Vice President Dr. Mohammed Bawumia has directed that work be continued at a Bank of Ghana project in Tamale which was stopped for unknown reasons after the NPP government took office.

The late Dakpema Alhaji Alhassan Dawuni, died at the Tamale Teaching Hospital after a short illness at 76 years.
