Kpandai district to get cassava processing factory under 1D-1F says, DCE for the area

The Kpandai district is expected to receive a cassava processing factory as its share of the one district-one- factory policy by the Nana Akuffo Addo led government.

The cassava processing factory is expected to feed the many smallholder cassava farmers within the district alongside creating jobs for the people and improving on their livelihoods.

District Chief Executive for Kpandai, Atta Emmanuel Kofi Tatabilata who disclosed in an interview with Diamond News stated that, the assembly is partnering the department of agriculture to recommend high yielding cassava to farmers in order to increase their yields in anticipation of the factory demands

He said the site for the construction had been allocated to the contractor and are awaiting the go ahead from the central government for commencement of work.

The District Chief Executive also revealed of plans to construct a magistrate court in Kpandai to ensure speedy delivery of justice and reduction in crimes within the district.

meanwhile, members of the School Management Committee SMC network in the Kpandai district are pushing for by-laws from the District Assembly that will allow the SMC prosecute parents that shield men who impregnate school girls in the area.

This bye-law is to ensure that parents are not induced to shield men that impregnate school girls. It would also ensure that girls in the district are protected from sexual harassment and allowed to focus on their education.

The decision was borne out of research findings by Choice Ghana, which showed that early marriages and teenage pregnancies were among some social vices that were affecting girl’s education in the Kpandai District.

Members of the School Management Committee SMC network in the district arrived that the decision at a forum in Kpandai to share, discuss and find innovative strategies to improving teaching and learning in the District.

The findings also recommended that, parents should enroll girls in school at the right age to avoid any unwarranted attraction and harassment when still at basic school.
