Karaga MP cuts sod for the construction of a dormitory facility for Pishigu Senior High School

The chiefs and people of the Pishigu Traditional Area in the Karaga District could not hide their joy when the Member of Parliament for Karaga Constituency, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam Anta cut sod for the construction of an ultramodern dormitory facility for the newly built Pishigu Senior High School (Pishigu SHS).

The ground breaking event was jointly performed by the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Karaga District, Iddrisu Saani and the chief of Pishigu, Naa Alhassan Andani on Saturday July 23, 2022.

The project awarded to Titksham Investment Company Limited is scheduled to be completed within Six months. The Member of Parliament disclosed this during the sod cutting ceremony at the premises of the newly built Pishigu SHS.

The construction of the dormitory facility is being executed through the office of the MP with funding support from the Ghana National Gas Company. The Member of Parliament for Karaga Constituency through the support from the Ghana National Gas Company initiated the construction of the Pishigu Senior High School.

Speaking at a ceremony to break the ground for work to commence, the lawmaker indicated that, the construction of the dormitory facility is aimed at ensuring the school is fully equipped to accommodate students who would be coming from afar.

Dr Amin Anta revealed that, the newly built Pishigu Senior High School would be operational by January 2023. “I have spoken to the Minister of Education about our intention to make this school operational by January 2023 because Pishigu Senior High School has come to stay,” he said.

As a result, his office is liaising with the Ghana Gas Company to provide other auxiliary facilities including toilets, borehole facilities among others to ensure the smooth running of the school.

He also stressed that education is a key tool to personal and national development; hence, his commitment together with the Central Government and some Government Agencies to ensure the provision of quality and accessible education to the constituents. As such, provision of education at the basic and secondary levels will continue to be a topmost priority.

On his part, the Director in charge of Cooperate Social responsibility, Mr Josheb Mens, in his remarks said management of Ghana Gas has resolved to see to the successful and timely completion of the project.

 “We have already spoken to the contractor that Ghana Gas project is such that we don’t start and end it half way. This project is dear to our heart, and so we are making sure that the project would be completed before the year ends.”

Mr. Joshep Mens while giving these assurances also commended the chief of Pishigu, Naa Alhassan Andani, for making the land available for the construction of the school. He said, “Ghana Gas will continue to support you in the development of your constituency as well as your District.”

The Karaga legislator as part of his efforts towards uplifting the standard of education in his constituency has within one year in office initiated and completed series of policies under the educational sector. It includes the provision of financial support to needy students, the construction of a 12-unit classroom block at Pishigu and the distribution of laptops to all teachers in his constituency among others.
