Karaga District benefits as government awards contract on feeder roads

The Member of Parliament for Karaga constituency Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam Anta, has announced that the government has awarded on contract some feeder roads in the Karaga district to facilitate the movement of goods and services to the market centers.

According to him, the contract includes rehabilitation of roads and opening of new roads involving 10 Box culverts, 43 pipe culverts and 12.7km of concrete drains and 34km of gravel surface adding, over 37 roads are expected to be upgraded with estimated amount of Gh¢ 41million.

The MP made this known after touring the affected communities with the Operations Manager at the Department of Feeder Roads Stephen Tettey – Adade to interact with the various communities members ahead of the commencement of work.

He said, the poor nature of the roads within the Karaga district was affecting socio-economic activities especially the transportation of foodstuffs to the market centers. He added that, the rehabilitation of roads when completed would facilitate economic activities in the district.

Dr Amin emphasised that his outfit through the government would not renege on its promises, which include rehabilitating all access roads to make them motorable.

“We will continue to give attention to the roads in the constituency to improve agricultural productivity and reduce poverty”, he assured.

Addressing the various communities members at a separate function, the MP for Karaga said “my brother Dandaawa and his party spent eight (8) years in power, but failed to rehabilitate all access roads to make them motorable. I am not here to deceive you. I am here to work so that you will continue to support NPP. The project is in fulfillment of a pledge I made during the 2020 general elections”.

On his part, the Operations Manager at the Department of Feeder Roads Stephen Tettey – Adade, while urging the chiefs and people within the affected communities to cooperate with the contractor also said, “this is the very critical project for government, it engenders government provision of infrastructure, and we all know the connection of roads and agriculture as much as the infrastructure has been provided, there is direct link with enhancement of Agric”.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Karaga constituency as part of his tour also commissioned new mechanized boreholes at Shebo, Karaga District Hospital and Nyong Guma.
