The Coalition of youth groups in Tamale are calling on the Interior Minister Hon. Ambrose Dery to cause an immediate investigation into the brutalities by some Police personnel at Nakpanzoo, a suburb of Tamale.
Diamondfmonline.com broke the news, and shared the videos where some officers of the Ghana Police Service are seen dehumanizing some residents of Nakpanzoo for illegally connecting NEDCO power.
The Coalition of youth groups in Tamale in a statement copied to diamondfmonline.com described the incident as “an affront to the individual human rights of the victims”.
The group recalled that sometime last year 2020 a similar incident happened in Chagli where the Police invaded the community and put up a similar unprofessional behavior with the police authority doing virtually little to those officers.
Signed by the secretary of the group Mohammed Sayibu, the statement said “if immediate steps are not taken a similar attitude will be put up again and this may degenerate into a serious security matter beyond control”.
The statement added that, “a formal petition will be sent to the Northern Regional Minister and the Management of NEDCO to deal with the issue swiftly”.
