Ghana’s Women double winners and West African champions Hasaacas Ladies have failed to win the maiden edition of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League after losing 2-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies in the final in Egypt.
A goal in either half from the South Africans ensured they pick up the trophy for the first edition of the tournament.
Hasaacas Ladies were full of hope but fell short when it mattered most losing all the 50-50 balls to their opponents during the match.
Hasaacas Ladies does settle for the silver medal of the tournament while Asfar Club of Morocco picked up bronze on Thursday after defeating Malabo Kings 3-1 in the play off.
Coach Yussif Basigi’s side will still hold their heads high for making Ghana proud by getting that far in the African continent.
They won three matches and drew one while losing in the final too.
They will now return home and prepare for the upcoming Women’s Premier League Season which kicks off next month.
Hasaacas Ladies really made a huge impression at the tournament despite settling for the silver medal. Their star player at the tournament, Evelyn Badu won both the tournament’s top scorer award with five goals and the best player after accumulating three Most Valuable Player of the match awards.
