Eleven(11) aspiring candidates for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Yendi constituency ahead of the impending annual constituency delegates conference have pulled out from the contest.

They include the Yendi constituency Chairman, Abubakari Sadiq, Alhaji Baba Amadu 1st Vice Chairman, Iddrisu Abukari 2nd Vice Chairman, Abdul Rahaman Shamsudeen Secretary, Moses Tapin Kwojani Deputy Secretary, Mohammed A. Kpemrisin Organizer, Tamimu Abdul-Hamid Youth Organizer, Mohammed Izirideen Deputy Youth Organizer, Ibrahim Ayishetu Women’s Organizer, Mohammed Alhassan Zaduli Treasurer, and Abubakari Baba Sumaila Nasara Coordinator.

The aspirants in a press statement on Saturday 30th April, 2022 acknowledge the efforts by the President Nana Akuffo Addo, the Alternative Dispute Resolution and Legal Committee of the party, and other leading members of the party to address the issues surrounding the reorganization of the party for the past two (2) months without fear or favor, “when our concerns were given death ears by the Polling Stations and Electoral Area Elections Committee, Constituency Elections Committee, Regional Executive Committee and the National Executives”.

“Though we disagree with the outcome of the decision taken at yesterday’s sitting, we accept the decision of the committee and shall abide by the rules of the party in the interest and unity of the party”.

“We are by this communiqué, withdrawing from the upcoming constituency election which is slated for Sunday, 1st May 2022. Participating in this election will go against our earlier decision of not having anything to do with the compromised register. We therefore describe this said election as a ‘sham’ and cannot be part of it”, they stated.
