Don’t force your favorite candidate on people of Tolon – DAMAZ Chairman

An aspiring Parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tolon Constituency of the Northern Region, Alhaji Jagbo Baako, has filed his nomination form with a strong appeal to the party’s constituency executives to create a level playing field for all the aspirants ahead of the April 25, 2020 contest.

He said the Executives have the primary responsibility to give equal opportunities to all the aspirants without any biases, favoritism or necessarily aligning themselves to any particular candidate.

“Don’t force your favorite candidate on the good people of Tolon, which will turn to against us come December 7. Choose the right candidate: chose the peoples candidate who can retained the seat for our beloved party”, Alhaji Jaagbo cautioned.

“The people of Tolon want change, but they need a person with dignity: a person with clean record”, he noted.

Alhaji Jagbo stormed the NPP constituency office at Tolon on Tuesday 18th February 2020 with massive followers of enthusiastic party youth who marched through the principal streets of the town chanting victory songs for the MP hopeful. 

His nomination forms were received by the Constituency Chairman Alhassan Abdulai (DIMAHAMI), and other constituency executives, who thanked Alhaji Jagbo for availing himself for the contest and also appreciated him for conducting himself peacefully and maturely. 

According to him that, he will embark on nothing but decent, matured and insult-free campaign to ensure unity in the NPP.

The aspirant who is the chairman of the Dagbon Malima Zuŋɔ (DAMAZ) commended the constituency executives for their cooperation from the time he announced his intentions till the day of filing his nomination.

Alhaji Jaagbo addressing the media after presenting his nomination forms stated that, “Our constituency lacks behind in terms of development because we haven’t had good MPs. My main objective will be to lobby for development for this constituency. I have the constituency at heart. I was born and bred here and so I know the problem of this area which I intern to address when giving the mandate”, he stated.

In private life, Alhaji Jagbo Baako is the chairman of Dagbon Malima Zuŋɔ , a peace advocacy group in the Northern Region who fought for the restoration of peace in Dagbon.

The DAMAZ leader is seeking to snatch the seat from Hon Wahab Suhuyini.

Before the filing, Alhaji Jaagbo Baako called on the Chief of Tolon, retired major Abukari Sulemana to officially inform him of his intention to contest the upcoming NPP primaries and seek for his blessings.

The chief however appealed to all the aspirants to go about their campaign devoid of insults, saying the contestants should be seen as internal matter.
