Disappointed Dataling Zoozugu residents in Tamale South vow to vote against their MP for neglecting them

Some disappointed residents of Dataling Zoozugu in the Tamale South constituency, have vowed to vote against the incumbent MP of the area Lawyer Haruna Iddrisu in the coming elections for his failure to expand potable water to their community.

According to them, complains to the MP to help them financially in extending pipe borne water into the community fell on death ears. They also accused the Tamale South MP who doubles as minority leader in parliament of neglecting the community and only remembering them during elections hence their disappointment.

“State housing cooperation provided us with the only standpipe and requested that we extend it further into the community. We got an estimate of 5,600, but as peasants, we couldn’t bore it all and through contributions, we further appealed to our MP Hon Haruna Iddrisu for support, but for 16 years, we are yet to get that help from him,” a resident narrated.

Some of the aggrieved residents said they would convince others to vote against the NDC law maker since their developmental needs have been neglected by him.

“We have been voting for him, but it looks like our MP doesn’t need our votes any more in this community. We are no more going to vote based on symbols, but rather for development. We have been taken for granted and we will not accept it any longer,” another residents threatened.

“We have given him power for almost sixteen years but he has done nothing to change the face of our community, one resident also lamented.

Dataling Zoozugu is a small village situated in the Tamale South constituency of the Tamale Metropolis. The community lacks so many things making living conditions increasingly unbearable for the residents.

There is no reliable source of clean drinking water in the community except one standpipe situated outside the community which serves over One thousand residence.

Meanwhile, the opposition NDC’s communication officer for Tamale South constituency, Abdul Ganiwu Saandow , in an interview with Diamond News, denounced all the allegations saying the Dataling Zoozugu community should rather be grateful to the MP for his efforts towards implementing a number of developmental projects in the area.

He said during the minority leader’s first term in parliament, he constructed a school block and hooked the community unto the national grid.  He revealed that, lawyer Haruna Iddrisu is working around the clock to connect all the communities unto the Ghana Water Company.

The Tamale South communication officer of NDC further asked the community members of Dataling Zoozugu to channel their grievances to the current government for his inability to provide them with pipe borne water rather than putting the blame on the MP.

“Everybody can attest to the fact that our MP has done so much for the people of Tamale South throughout his sixteen years in charge of the constituency. He has implemented a number of developmental projects which has impacted positively on the lives of the people of Tamale South constituency,” Abdul Ganiwu Saadow stated.
