6th edition of Diamond Damba Festival comes to a successful end with massive blood donation exercise

The sixth edition of the Diamond Damba Festival (DDF) Blood donation, registration and renewal of National Health Insurance cards for widows, orphans and elderly ended successfully on Tuesday October 3, 2023, at the premises of Diamond FM in the Tamale Metropolis of the Northern Region.

The exercise attracted listeners from all walks of life and supporters of the various political parties participated in the blood donation exercise to climax this year’s Diamond Damba festivities.

This year’s DDF event rallied cash support and other gifts from benevolent individuals and high profiled personalities including the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamoud Bawumia, Northern Regional Minister Alhaji Shani Alhassan Sayibu, Northern Regional NHIS Director, Issahaku Abdul Latif, Management of Puzuri Group of Companies, Northern Regional Executives of NDC, Northern Regional Communication Director of NPP, Savanna Regional NPP communication directorate among others.

Also, communicators for the major political parties that appeared on Diamond FM Morning Power Drive lauded the initiative, and re-echoed the need for benevolent institutions and other philanthropists to adopt the initiative.

Some of the blood donors spoke about why they chose to partake in the live saving event organized by Diamond FM.  “I’m happy to be part of this year’s exercise to save lives. Diamond FM has really distinguished themselves”, one donor praised.

A senior blood donor organizer at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, Iddi Fuseini Zakaria who led the team commended Diamond FM for maintaining the exercise. “Like we also said, this initiative is the biggest because the unit of blood we also mobilize through this initiative, we can’t get it anywhere. This year alone we had about 150 units of blood.”

Meanwhile, management of Diamond FM at the end of this year’s Damba celebrations had registered 110 widows and orphans onto the national health insurance scheme, while over three hundred NHIS cards had been renewed.
