An aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Tolon Constituency, Alhaji Habib Iddrisu has admonished his supporters and other party faithful’s in the area to remain calm even in the midst of extreme provocation.
According to him, as the internal elections of the NPP draws near, it is prudent for all supporters of the aspiring candidates in the Tolon race to emulate humility, and not be provoked by utterances and actions of others.
The NPP will on Saturday 20th June, 2020 go to the polls to elect parliamentary candidates at the constituencies where they have sitting MPs across the country.
Speaking to Diamondfmonline.com ahead of the elections, Alhaji Habib indicated that his four other contenders were his brothers and sisters, adding; “we are one big elephant family, and we need to respect each other by prosecuting a decent campaign, devoid of vilification in order to ensure unity during and after the primaries in the Tolon constituency”.
The NPP aspiring candidate, who is the deputy director of Tema Processing Zone of the Ghana Free Zones Authority, further pledged to support any candidate who emerged winner at the end of the primaries.
”I will support any candidate who emerges winner at the primaries. My campaign team and I have been running a decent campaign in the area because we knew very well that we need each other to retain the seat for our party and the people of Tolon. Therefore, everybody is important. So, we need to respect each other’s views to help us retain the seat”, he added.
Alhaji Habib Iddrisu still maintained he is the right candidate for the NPP who can retain the seat for the NPP come December 7.
“I am contesting to win the seat for my party not just to be a parliamentary candidate for the NPP. Our constituency is lacking behind in terms of development, and so I am ready to work and develop the area” he stated.
This is the first time Alhaji Habib Iddrisu is contesting to lead the party in the Tolon constituency. In 2016, he led the NPP at the Sagnarigu constituency, but lost to current MP Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini. Alhaji Habib however, is optimistic that he is winning the internal elections by a landslide victory.
He said empowering the youth will be his main priority and that includes supporting the needy and brilliant students in the constituency.
The Deputy Director of Tema Processing Zone also promised to support farmers in the constituency. He said he has been supporting farmers in the constituency and therefore will put much effort into supporting them when given the nod so that they can increase their yield.
Alhaji Habib also pledged to unite the party in the constituency when given the nod.
Meanwhile, a total of five hundred and forty four (544) delegates are expected to cast their votes at the Tolon Constituency on Saturday 20th June, 2020.
