Tamale District court remands three suspects in connection with the murder of police woman.

The Tamale District court two has remanded three persons who were arrested in connection with the murder of the Police woman Agatha Nana Nabin into prison custody.

The three, Anas Issahaku popularly called chief Kanzolia, Zulika Abdullah and Mahama Nashiru also called chief are expected to reappear in court on August 22.

State prosecutor, Inspector Victor Kwafo pleaded with the court to remand the three suspects to enable police undertake further investigations into the gruesome murder of their colleague.

But the defense counsel, Lawyer Sylvester objected to the plea and asked that the second accused, Anas Issahaku be granted bail since he is not directly linked with the murder.

He argued that, the first suspect Issahaku Yakubu Kanbon-naa who is on admission and could not come to court is an arch rival of Anas Issahaku and only mentioned his name to go down with him.

Explaining further to Diamond news shortly after the hearing Lawyer Sylvester opined that, the Police during their investigations could not find any weapon or illegal accoutrements with his client during their search at his residence.

He therefore urged the prosecutors to separate the facts and give the facts per each accused person to enable the public understand the crime of each accused person.

Amidst tight security within the court premises, the judge, Amadu Seidu ruled that he is mindful of the rights of the accused person, but will allow the police more time to conclude their investigations.

The Police brought into the courtroom three locally manufactured guns, over 10 locally made knifes and a sack of military uniform.

The four persons are charged with conspiracy to commit crime, murder, illegal possession of firearms and possession of military accoutrements.

Lance Corporal Agartha Nana Nabin was shot dead on Tuesday July 30 by military dressed armed robbers at a police checkpoint at Malshegu on the Kumbungu road.
