SWAG national executives arrive in Tamale for Inauguration of Northern Region branch

National executives of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) have arrived in Tamale for the inauguration of the association’s northern regional branch. Led by National president Kwabena Yeboah, the delegation also include Deputy General Secretary Ohene Brenya Bampoe.

The delegation touched down at the Tamale International Airport at about 13:30 GMT. They were met on arrival and welcomed by interim executives of the yet to be inaugurated northern regional branch.

Upon arrival the team paid a courtesy call on the Dakpema of Tamale to receive his blessings for a successful program on Saturday.

Speaking at the short ceremony at the Dakpema palace, Kwabena Yeboah said he was excited to be in Tamale and was equally happy for the warm reception he and his entourage received on their arrival. He thanked the chief and asked that he use his influence to enable a team from Tamale qualify into the Ghana premier league so that the Tamale Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium will no longer be idle.

The delegation then proceeded to the offices of the National Sports Authority (NSA) where they met the regional administrator Mr. Samuel Nii Obley who welcomed them to Tamale on behalf of the director Madam Alhassan Salamatu.

Mr. Samuel Nii Obley thanked the team for their visit and said the doors of the NSA were opened for further engagement as and when they need it. For his part, SWAG national president Kwabena Yeboah thanked the NSA for their continued support to SWAG even at the national level and appealed for an office space for the northern regional branch at the stadium.

The next point of call was the premises of the Northern Regional Football Association (NRFA) chairman, Alhaj Abu Hassan Mahamadu Rhyzo. The chairman of NRFA welcomed the team and assured them of a cordial collaboration between the NRFA and SWAG for the development of football in the region.

SWAG president Kwabena Yeboah was equally happy for the support the chairmen had given the northern regional branch since its mobilization and the planning towards the inauguration.

Alhaj Rhyzo surprised Kwabena Yeboah with a beautifully designed smock. The team thanked the NRFA chairman for his benevolence and hospitality.

SWAG northern region started mobilization since January, 2018 and are set for inauguration on Saturday at the Pioneer Guest Lodge at 9:00am.
