Sangnarigu Municipal Assembly ‘meets the press’

The Municipal Chief Executive for Sagnarigu, Mariam Iddrisu has outlined several developmental projects in her area that have been executed with others at various stages of completion within the close to three years Nana Addo led government.

She mentioned that, about 2,439 youth within the municipality have gained employment within the youth in afforestation, the Nation Builders Corp (NABCO) and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) programmes being rolled out by the government.

Mariam Iddrisu explained that, four hundred and fifty-eight (458) youth within the municipality are engaged youth in afforestation whiles,1,853 personnel are also benefitting from the 7 models of NABCO and 128 youth since 2017 have been engaged in three (3) modules of the Youth Employment Agency.

Taking her turn to address the media on the Meet-The-Press series, the Sagnarigu MCE revealed that 17 out of 20 dams awarded on contracts are under various stages of construction within the Municipality under the government One-village one dam initiative.

She indicated that, the dams when completed will serve multiple purposes such as domestic use, animal husbandry and irrigation within the beneficiary communities.

Regarding sanitation improvement in the Municipality, the MCE noted that the Assembly with support from the Ministry of Special Initiatives is constructing 7 institutional latrines with mechanized boreholes in selected communities in the Municipality to promote Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).

The Sagnarigu MCE also revealed that government through the Ministry of Roads and Highways had awarded contracts for the grading and rehabilitation of a total of 49.75 kilometres stretch of roads in the Municipality.

She said the Municipality’s growth in terms of human settlement and business development keeps growing hence the need for roads to be opened up and older roads put in good shape to enhance business growth and human movement.
