The youth wing of the of the ruling new patriotic party NPP in the Tamale south constituency have a doubt that the constituency will become the MANHYIA of the NDC as pledged by the member of parliament for the area, Haruna Iddrisu.
According to the NPP youth, results collated from previous general elections in the constituency have showed better performance of the NPP contrary to the MP’s assertion.
The minority leader and MP for Tamale south constituency, after submitting his nomination forms at his party office stated that, the National Democratic Congress intended to transform his constituency, Tamale South into a stronghold for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He said the NDC will be raking in more votes from Tamale South constituency in both presidential and parliamentary elections just as the NPP does in Manhyia, one of its strongholds in the Ashanti Region.
However the youth wing of NPP of the Tamale south constituency, in a press statement, copy to Diamond News, revealed that, the constituency had benefited a lot under the NPP government’s social intervention, therefore, Haruna Iddrisu should desist from deceiving his party people.
Explaining their position to Diamond News, Tamale south constituency youth organizer of NPP, Mumuni Suale indicated that, the NPP government had rolled out series of developmental projects including roads, drainage systems among others in the constituency.

STOP DECEIVING YOUR PARTY, TAMALE SOUTH CONSTITUENCY CAN NEVER BE THE MANHYIA OF NDC.
In 2016, Ghanaians elected into office H.E Nana Akufo Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to manage the affairs of our dear Nation and ever since, the general lifestyle of Ghanaians has improved tremendously. This is as a result of the implementation of pragmatic and “easy-to-feel” policies that were unimaginable in the 8 years of the incompetent John Mills – John Mahama rule or better still Misrule. These policies having impacted so much on the citizenry of Ghana have left the opposition confused and Dazed. This has resulted in comments and utterances coming from leading members of the NDC that the brain cannot comprehend.
The minority leader and Mp for Tamale south constituency is reported to have state that he wants to turn Tamale south into the NDC’s Manhyia, “ we intend to develop Tamale south constituency as the Manhyia of the NDC in the Northern Region”. The minority leader has always been careful when it comes to speaking but the allegation that he took Double salaries is having an effect on him and the way he speaks of late. The facts on the ground can never support this wild wish of the minority leader.
Now, what are the facts? The minority leader first contested in 2004 when the Tamale south constituency was created. He stood against the late Alhaji Mustapha Ali Iddrisu,perhaps the best Mp Tamale has ever had and won. The minority leader, Haruna iddrisu obtained 39,204 votes as against 12,116 votes obtained by the Late Alhaji Mustapha Ali Idris of the NPP. In 2008, the minority leader got 44,332 votes and the then NPP candidate, Ibrahim Abdul Kadiru of blessed memory polled 11,332 votes.
In 2012, Haruna Iddrisu polled 53,320 and the NPP’s candidate then, Hon. Abdulai Shamsudeen Pegu polled 16,395 votes. Again in 2016, the New patriotic party brought in Mr. Yakubu Yussif who got 18,932 votes whilst the NDC’s candidate, Haruna Iddrisu had 52,235 votes. Now, if time is taken and the trend is studied very well, you will realize his percentage of votes dropped with the NPP’s votes steadily growing in numbers and in percentage. In the last elections, the number of votes obtained by Hon. Haruna Iddrisu declined. This should tell him that his popularity is fading and that of NPP is on the rise.
We are assuring the minority leader that Tamale South Constituency is never going to become the NDC’s Manhyia as he claims. We are telling him that, coupled with the good works of the Npp such as Free SHS,Nabco,One –Village One-Dam, one-district one-factory, strong economic fundamentals, the Nalung area drainage and roads construction, the Nakpanzoo area ,Lamashegu north and south roads construction, Datoyili- Fooshegu road construction e.t.c by the NPP government and the hard work of the Npp executives in the constituency led by Chairman Hashimiyyu Sulemana, we are going to win the seat come 2020. He should be reminded that the unfortunate incident which occurred in Yendi in 2002 that led to chieftaincy disputes was what catapulted him to the Seat but fortunately it is now a thing of the past as the President, HE. Nana Akufo Addo, Abudani (i) saw to its resolution. Development is now the issue and this is what Haruna Iddrisu and the NDC hate to hear.
Our investigations reveals that two men from the NDC in Tamale south constituency had wanted to pick forms for the Tamale south seat on the Ticket of NDC but as usual of Haruna Iddrisu, he has decided to bribe them with Pick-up trucks and huge amount of cash summing up to Ghc. 200,000. We assure him that he can buy his way through the NDC but the general elections shall expose him come 2020.
In conclusion, we will like to tell everybody in the NDC including the minority leader that the Tamale south constituency can never be the “Manhyia” of the NDC, He should wake up from his dream because the 2020 elections will not be in his favor.
