The Northern regional branch of the main opposition National
Democratic Congress (NDC) has concluded the vetting of its prospective
parliamentary candidates in the region.
The exercise, which commenced on Thursday 25th July, saw 57 aspiring
parliamentary candidates being taken through vetting process, from 18
constituencies in the northern.
57 potential members of the party filed their nomination in 18 constituencies
in the northern region to become the opposition party parliamentary candidates
but 56 of them were made to proceed the contest.

The Minority leader in parliament, Haruna Iddrisu of Tamale south, Alhassan S
Dandawa Karaga constituency, and Lawyer Abdul Fatawu Jofa Yendi constituency
both are contesting unopposed
The northern regional director of elections of NDC Alhaji Mohammed Amin Abio in his statement revealed that all the aspiring candidates were made to sign agreement to support whoever emerge winner at the end of next month contest to ensure unity within the party.
“All aspirants signed an undertaking to remain resolute behind NDC and whoever emerges in the primaries as winner, to ensure unity and unflinching support to the party after the upcoming primaries in August”
The northern regional executives of the main opposition party NDC in their general assessment of the vetting exercise, noted that the exercise proceeded smoothly.
