THIS YEAR’S PROSPECTIVE GHANAIAN PILGRIMS CONTINUE TO FLY OUT FROM TAMALE

The fourth batch of Ghanaian pilgrims were airlifted on Friday night at about 11: 55pm at the Tamale International Airport to perform this year’s pilgrimage in Mecca.

About 492 pilgrims left with Boeing 747-400 aircraft a Saudi commercial airline in the Northern Region, and this brings the number to a total of 1,938 Muslim Ghanaian pilgrims who have landed in Mecca so far.

A total of 2,800 prospective pilgrims are expected to fly directly from Tamale International Airport to Mecca from 24 July to Sunday, 28 July 2019 in six batches.

About 6,000 Ghanaian Muslims are expected to leave the shores of Ghana for the Hajj this year.

In an interview with Diamondfmonline.com, the deputy public relations officer of the Ghana Hajj Board, Alhaji Eliasu indicated that the fifth batch of Muslim pilgrims checking in processes will begin at exactly 3: 00pm on Saturday, saying the flight is expected to take off at exactly 10pm the same day.

Alhaji Eliasu revealed that all 1,938 Muslim pilgrims who arrived in Saudi Arabia three days ago are doing well, and have started their hajj processes.

Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam which require all able-bodied Muslims to perform Hajj once in their lifetime.

Hajj offers an opportunity to the faithful to wipe past sins and start afresh. Over 3 million Muslims across the world are expected to perform this year’s event.
