The Paramount Chief of the Kpembe Traditional Area in the Savanna Region Kpembewura Haruna Bismark has commended government for the many developmental projects within his traditional area in the three and half years of the NPP in government.
He mentioned a modern market at Salaga, public toilet facilities, school blocks – at various stages of completion, a modern community centre at Kuwani, construction of the Salaga town roads and a rice milling factory.
“Your Excellency, another project worthy of particular mention is the Salaga Urban Water project, which is almost completed. This project solves a long-standing historical problem, notably referred to as “Nchu ma worta”, the Kpembewura added.
In a speech to welcome the Vice President, Dr Alhaji Mahamoud Bawumia to the Savanna Region as part of his 10 day tour of the five regions of the North, the Kpembewura, however lamented over the poor road network within the area.
“Road development is now the biggest worry to me and my people. Among these include; the Salaga -Makango road, and the remaining short distance of the Salaga-Tamale stretch”.
The Kpembewura also requested for the construction of the Salaga-Kafaba and the number one -Abrumasi roads.
Whiles responding to the concerns of the chief, the Vice President accused the past NDC government of misusing state resources whiles in office through the now-defunct SADA where he alleged that about 100 million dollars was spent.
He said the Nana Addo led government is focused on delivering on an inclusive development agenda where everyone must benefit from government policies and not a selected few.
“And that explains why the government is implementing the Free Senior High School policy and the other social intervention policies for all persons to benefit equally”.
He told the people that, the 2020 general elections was about comparison of records between the NPP and the NDC and urged the people to vote massively to retain the NPP in government for continuous development within the Savanna Region and Ghana at large.
The Vice President and his entourage also addressed another durbar at Kpalbe in the North East Gonja District where the Overlord of the Kpanshegu wura Adam Abudu asked the government for a Senior High School for the district.
