All forms of mass gathering within the Tamale Technical University have been suspended by the school’s management, even as completing students return to campus on Monday.
Also, students have been forbidden from accessing all university facilities without wearing a facemask.
These are part of measures adopted by the authorities to ensure the safety of students and the University community.
Public Relations Officer of the University, Alhaji Mohammed Aziz in an interview with Diamond News, disclosed that all students reporting are also expected to go through some COVID-19 protocol checks including screening and answering a questionnaire to help University’s medical directorate with monitoring processes on campus.
TaTU is expecting a total of 1,600 final year students for a six weeks study period.
Alhaji Aziz also indicated that veronica buckets are positioned at vantage points across the campus for hand washing and lecturers are also advised to maintain the recommended distance in all lecture halls.
President Akufo as part of easing the covid-19 restrictions, on two occasions announced the reopening of schools, by targeting final year’s students who are expected to resume studies and take their final examinations.
Completing tertiary students are to report on campus on June 15, followed by those in Senior High School, with the second year students under the Gold Track, on June 22, while Basic School finalists will go on June 29.
Meanwhile some students of the Tamale Technical University that had reported at the time of our visit spoke to Diamond News.
A few students were seen seated under trees and were all in their nose masks.
The students appealed to their lecturers to be considerate with them during the examination since academic activities were not effective during the semester.
Some of the students said teaching and learning on the E-learning system came with several challenges owing to constant network failures.
