Case against Ofosu Ampofo adjourned after AG files new evidence late

The late filing of some substantial evidence by the Attorney General for the prosecution of National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has forced the High Court hearing the case to adjourn sitting.

The Attorney General filed documents including a caution statement, charge statement, witness statement, forensic report, CD’s and transcript of the alleged audio at the registry of the court on Monday morning.

The case was adjourned to give the defence team an opportunity to study the new documents filed by the Attorney General.

The judge, Justice Samuel Asiedu adjourned the case to May 27, 2019.

National Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has been arraigned alongside a deputy National Communication Director, Kweku Boahen on charges of conspiracy to cause harm and assault against a public officer.

The two men are currently on bail in the sum of GHc 100,000 each.

Flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama and other bigwigs in the NDC such as Nana Ato Dadzie, General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah and Joyce Bawa Mogtari were in court during the first sitting at the Accra High Court last month.

The two national officers of the NDC pleaded not guilty to the charges of conspiracy to cause harm and assault on a public officer.

Meanwhile, a Deputy Attorney General, Joseph Kpemka says the prosecution will be able to produce evidence to back the charges levelled against the accused persons.
