ABSA Bank Ghana has made a donation to the Nanton D/A Primary A School in the Nanton District towards fighting Covid-19.
The items which included a 10,000 litre Polytank, Mechanized Veronica Buckets, bundles of tissue paper, hand sanitizers and liquid soaps as well as nose masks among others, is a gesture which formed part of activities to celebrate a year of possibilities by the Bank.
At a short ceremony held at Nanton D/A School, Ms. Pricila Yeboah, a member of the Marketing and Corporate Relations team at Absa, indicated that one of the areas the bank intended to support is education and skills development.
She noted, education is the bedrock of every country’s development, therefore the decision to support the sector. Ms. Yeboah said because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the bank decided to support ten thousand vulnerable schools across the country with PPEs to help curb the spread of the pandemic in the country.
“As a business, it is not just about making profits in the communities, while the communities receive and support us to do our business safely. It is our duty to also support the communities and that is why at Absa Bank, we play a role in shaping society wherever we operate,” she added.
Receiving the items on behalf of the school, the Nanton District Director of Education, Mohammed Amin Dawuda, commended Absa for the support, saying “the gesture was timely since the items will go a long way to improve hygienic conditions in the school.”
He also appealed to benevolent organizations in the Region to come to the aid the school in fixing the challenges including infrastructure and furniture deficits.
The Headmistress of the School, Ms Abdul Somed Ramatu, thanked their benefactor for the support.
