The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for Gushegu constituency, Yussif Malimali, has vowed to resist any attempt by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to assist foreigners transfer their votes into the constituency ahead of the 2024 general elections.

According to him, the NPP in the Gushegu constituency is planning to assist some strangers to transfer their votes into the constituency. “We have picked the signal, and we are monitoring the situation,” he added.

“During this transfer exercise, we expect to see people who transfer their votes to Gushegu in the last elections to transfer them back to their constituencies. We are pleading with them to stay out of Gushegu politics. The elections are for natives of Gushegu to decide who leads them, not strangers”, he said.

The NDC PC in a viral video, also stated, “this time we in the NDC are prepared for such people. We will not condone these actions again. In the interest of peace, we are calling on non-natives to leave Gushegu politics alone and allow indigenes to choose our leaders.

Honorable Malimali also alleged that the NPP in the Gushegu constituency is also planning to induce some members and agents of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“Information we have also picked is that the NPP is gearing towards to induce some agents and members of the NDC, and what I know is that members of the NDC are committed and wouldn’t allow themselves to be bought”, he alleges.
