Tamale North MP supports artisans with working tools
Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale North Constituency, Honorable Alhassan S. Suhuyini has presented working tools and materials worth thousands of Ghana cedis to over 53 artisans in his constituency.
The beneficiary artisans, who were drawn from across the constituency includes electricians, plumbers, vulcanizers, auto mechanics, car washers, industrial tailors, carpenters, plaster board workers, aluminium glass frame workers, gardeners, painters, car sprayers and welders received working tools and materials each from the MP as part of his efforts to reduce poverty and youth unemployment through entrepreneurial and skills development.
According to him, the presentation was in fulfilment of his pledge to support the youth in his constituency who personally appealed to him to support them with working tools to boost and expand their operations and services across the constituency.
He said the support was also aimed at complementing the intention of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of supporting the TVET, skills and vocational development.
“As a member of parliament of the NDC ticket and the Parliamentary Candidate for the 2024 general elections I thought that it was imperative for me to demonstrate the intention of the party when in the 2020 manifesto we stated our willingness to support TVET and skill vocational development, craft men to enable them improve their trade to enable them earn a living to take care of their families, and through this initiative some months ago we were able to support some women in this constituency with a number of refrigerators, hired dryers, and some swing machines. Today, we have decided to extend the support to the young men to improved the operations”, he narrated.
Honorable Alhassan S. Suhuyini, further stated that, “it is my prayer that we will get more resources because a lot more of them are in the system deserving and requiring the support”.
The Tamale North legislator during the presentation of the items, also presented two motor bikes to some selected elders of Kalpohini to aid their movement.
Speaking to diamondfmonline.com, after receiving the items, some of the beneficiaries who could not hide their excitement thanked the MP for the gesture and also prayed and wished him well in his future undertakings. They said the support would go a long way to help expand and improve their works.
Meanwhile, the MP after presenting the items also handed over a water closet toilet facility to the chiefs and people of Kalpohini community in the Sagnarigu Municipality of the Northern Region.
Addressing the media after handing over the toilet facility to the community members, he expressed hope that the facility will go a long way to address the open defecation in the community.
