Tamale Central MP hands over health facility and Nurses accommodation to Gumbihini community

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale Central Constituency Honorable Ibrahim Mohammed Murtala, in collaboration with Qatar Charity Organization, has handed over a state-of-the-art health facility with essential medical equipment and supplies, to the chiefs and people of Gumbihini a suburb of the Tamale Metropolis in the Northern Region. 

The fully furnished health facility consists of a male and female ward, laboratory, delivery room, maternity ward, pharmacy, an outpatient department (OPD), quarantine centre, injection room, waiting room, children’s ward, consulting rooms, administration offices, wash rooms, records among others. 

The facility also had an ultra-modern nurse’s accommodation. The facility whose construction was initiated by the MP with funding from the Qatar Charity Organization, is equipped to provide a wide range of essential health services. 

It is also aimed at bringing quality healthcare to the doorsteps of the people of Gumbihini community and its environs. 

Aside from enhancing patient comfort and safety, the facility will help reduce the burden on the hospitals within the Metropolis.  

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, the Tamale Central lawmaker, expressed his gratitude to the Qatar Charity Organization for the support.  

He also commended the Chief of Gumbihini and his elders for their self-help spirit exhibited during the construction of the facility. 

Understanding the critical role the facility will play, the MP indicated that the facility is equipped with a lot of modern facilities and essentials that will help save the people well.

 

He said his outfit within the four years in office has been able to construct four health centers across the constituency. “Next two weeks we will be commissioning a similar project at Sakasaka, this is unprecedented”, he emphasized.

On the maintenance culture, Honorable Ibrahim Mutala urged the chiefs and people of Gumbihini to pay attention to the facility by putting it into good use.

Speaking on behalf of the Country Director of Qatar Charity organization, Mr Akpetibi Mensah, indicated that his organization had provided the facility with over forty available equipment to make it fully operational. 

Mr Mensah while thanking the Chief of Gumbihini for making land available for the project, also assured the MP of their readiness to continue partnering with him to improve healthcare delivery within his constituency.

On her part, the Tamale Metropolitan Health Director, Dr. Seidu Barikisu, thanked the MP and the Qatar Charity organization for the gesture and assured the MP that her outfit will ensure the facility is put into good use.
