Lunsi win DASUMA Clan Soccer Tournament

Lungsi defeated Laabansi by four (4) goals to two(2) on a penalty shootout to become champions of the 6th edition of the DASUMA Clan Tournament played at the Yendi Astroturf on Monday.

They were presented with a beautiful trophy, 20 gold medals and a cash amount of Ghc1,000 while the runners-up got Ghc500.

CEO of Dasuma Clan Tournament Alhaji Baba Daney thanked the King of Dagbon Naa Abukari Mahama II, Naa Yab’ Kugunaa and all sub chiefs who played vital roles to the success of this year’s event.

He said that aside peace and unity, one of his targets for organizing this tournament is to see football talents from Yendi and the Eastern Corridor to dominate the various levels of Ghana’s national teams.
“One of our target for putting up this competition is to see players from this part of our country to be part of Ghana’s Black Starlets, Black Satellites and to an extent the Ghana Black Stars in the near future”, he stated.
“As we speak, about 7 players from this tournament in the last 6 years have gotten opportunities to travel to Europe and other parts of the continent to continue their football development”, he said.
Chairman of the Organising Committee, Alhaji Halim Rubai thanked the CEO of Dasuma Clan Tournament Alhaji Baba Daney for coming out with such a great idea of bringing the various clans in Yendi together to promote peace and unity amongst them.

He also thanked the Northern Regional Football Association Chairman Alhaji Abu Hassan Rhyzo and his Executive Committee for their support towards organizing the tournament.
He also hailed the winners, all participants, the media, security, medics and the good people of Yendi for patronizing this year’s event.

Eight Clan Communities took part in the exciting competition. They include Machelinima, Nakohinima, Laabansi, Mohi, Sapashininima, Lunsi, Goonjenima and Wanzamanima.
