Six communities in Nanton District hooked to the national grid

Some six communities in the Nanton district has been connected to the National grid under the Rural Electrification Project (REP) by the government.

The beneficiary communities’ are Batanyili, Zali, Yipaligu, Tahakpame, Zetugu and Jenakpeng.

Commissioning the projects at separate events, Member of Parliament for Nanton constituency, Mohammed Hardi Tufeiru said the NPP government was working towards extending electric power to all other communities within the Nanton district.

He said the projects formed part of the Nana Addo led government initiative to increase connection of deprived communities onto the national grid in order to better their living conditions.

The MP also encouraged school children to take advantage of the availability of electricity to study hard to enable them become responsible leaders.

Whilst praising his predecessor Ibrahim Mutala for initiating the projects, he reminder locals of his promise during his campaign to connect the communities onto the National grid.

Project supervisor Owusu Ansah admonished the people not to default in the payment of their electricity bills as that would deprive other communities from getting electricity.

He also warned against illegal connections of power as that practice could land them into trouble.

Chief of Batanyili, Naa Braimah Abdulai, on behalf of other beneficiary communities thanked the MP for his continuous efforts to improving the living conditions of the people of Nanton constituency.

The Member of Parliament also donated some bulbs to the communities to light up the streets in the communities.
