The National Sports Authority (NSA) has inaugurated an eleven (11) member Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 2023 National Cross Country to be held in Savelugu in the Northern Region.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Savelugu Hajia Ayishetu Seidu will chair the committee with the Honorable Northern Regional Minister Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu, Kwame Ampofi Junior Head of Technical (NSA), Northern Regional Sports Director Madam Salamatu Alhassan, Gariba Nasiru, Sandow Sule, Northern Regional Athletics Association Chairman Alhaji Chief T.A Mahama, Regional Police Commander Mr Duut, N’yab Yoo Naa Secretary Abukari Iddi, Mohammed Muazz A. Choo and Musah Abdul Rahim media representative, as members of the committee.
The National Sports Authority Director General Professor Peter Twumasi in his address appeal to all stakeholders to give their maximum support to the committee for a successful event.
The MCE for the Savelugu Municipal Assembly Hajia Ayishetu Seidu expressed her appreciation to the NSA for selecting the Municipality as the host venue among the lot for the impending event, and confident that the region would host a successful competition.
Professor Peter Twumasi, Director General of the NSA, said it was the vision of the sports authority to ensure that sports is developed and promoted through the grassroots to the national level.
He highlighted on the successes achieved in the previous editions of the event which started in 2019.
He indicated that it was the Authority’s hope that the 2023 edition of the competition would be an improvement on the past events.
He further stated that the National Cross Country is one of the events to be organized by the NSA in preparations for future Athletics Competitions in Africa and the World at large.
