Supporters of Alhaji Inusah Amadu Dagomba Boy, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Northern Regional chairman hopeful on Wednesday May 25, 2022, held a demonstration in Tamale, to protest against the NPP Northern Regional executives led by Chairman Samba for deleting some of the Council of Patrons names from the Regional Album for their impending Regional Delegates Conference slated for May 27, 2022.
The supporters were clad in red t-shirts, head and hand bands, and carried placards with various inscriptions including: SHAHIMIYAYABA!, SAMBA AND HIS TEAM MUST GO, REGIONAL ELECTION COMMITTEE BE FAIR TO ALL ASPIRANTS, SAMBA MUST GO, among others.
The group, made up of over hundred supporters of Dagomba Boy marched from Zogbeli through to Aboabo, and finally conveyed at the NPP northern regional head office.
Alhaji Fuseini Agbaa who addressed the media on behalf of the demonstrators, describe the decision by the NPP Northern Regional executives as unprisedented which had a tendency of affecting the party fortunes in the region if not addressed.
He said the party constitution provided a room for the Council of Patrons to participate in the upcoming Regional Delegates elections, however the regional executives led by Chairman Samba have chosen to drop some of them from the Regional Album for suspicious that they might not vote him on Friday May 27, 2022.
The names include, Alhaji Joe Kadir a financier and a member of the Council of Patrons, Surgent Karim a Security Coordinator, Alhaji Manan among others.
Alhaji Agbaa accused the NPP Northern Regional Chairman Mohammed Bantima Samba, for appointing unqualified people to be a member of the Council of Patrons.
“There is a criteria for selection of ouncil of Elders and Patrons, and what is happening in our party now is that, they have remove those people who have suffered for this party; people who invested for this party; people like Alhaji Joe Kadir, Surgent Karim, Alhaji Abubakari Manan. All these good caliber of people have been removed as Council of Elders and Patrons, and have been replaced by teenagers like Hajia Fathia Abdul Aziz, Abdallah Salifu DCE aid to the Regional Minister, Mayor of Tamale Sule Salifu”, he narrated.
Alhaji Agbaa while expressing his dismay about the decision by the regional executives however, warn that they will only allow the elections to go on when they ensure fairness by bringing back the names removed from the album.
They also called on the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Alhassan Saani Shaibu and the Mayor of Tamale, Sule Salifu, to desist from interfering in the upcoming regional conference and rather focus on how to resolved the mess within the region.
Meanwhile, the Council of Patrons have petitioned the Northern Regional Election Committee over the matter.

PETITION SUBMITED BY COUNCIL OF PATRONS OF NORTHERN REGION TO THE ELECTION COMMITTEE
We the undersigned members of the Northern Regional Council of Patron of the New Patriotic Party wish to bring to your attention a worrying development regarding the regional album for the regional delegates conference slated for 27th May, 2022 scheduled to be held at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale.
Information reaching us has confirmed that, the list submitted to the National Office of the party for the compilation of the delegates album includes only three notable members, out of the 10 members submitted as eligible delegates to vote on behalf the Council of Patrons.
We find this development highly unfortunate and unfair to the members of the Council of Patrons at this material moment to replace us with people who have never been part of the known membership of Council Patrons all these years.
We hold a considered view that, our right to vote cannot be compromised by any authority without our consent.
We wish to request the intervention of the Committee for our names to be restored with immediate effect as the legitimate members without which we will advise ourselves regarding the affairs of the party in the region.
