N/R: NHIA Sensitizes residents of Tamale on ‘MYNHIS APP’

The Northern Regional Directorate of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has on Thursday November 30, 2023, took to the principal streets of the greater Tamale to sensitized the residents on ‘My NHIS App’.

The sensitization exercise was part of the series of activities earmarked by the NHIA to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the scheme. 

The authority led by the Northern Regional Director of NHIA, Mr. Issahak Abdul-Latif and staff of NHIS offices across the region stormed offices, market place and other public places, to educate and assist the public to download ‘My NHIS App’ and create accounts as a platform for new registration and renewal of membership.

The officials of NHIA also educate road users and distribute flyers  to residents.   

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) introduced an online registration platform dubbed, “My NHIS.” It is a convenient mobile App solution inaugurated to enable residents in Ghana and beyond to use their Ghana cards and sign up for the NHIS at their own convenience.

Speaking on the sideline of the exercise, Mr A Laif, noted that residents of the greater Tamale needed to obtain knowledge on MyNHIA App hence the sensitization exercise.

Mr. A Latif while highlighting the importance of the App, said the authority is targeting over One million people to download the App adding that over fifty people have already downloaded the App into their mobile phones. “With this App, one person with one Ghana card can register ten people into NHIS without any difficulty”, he revealed.  

Speaking on the issue of out-of-pocket payments demanded from members of the scheme at the various accredited health facilities, Mr. A Latif warned that the authority of the scheme would not relent on its efforts, but will ensure all monies taken illegally from NHIS clients will be refunded to them.

“We are very serious about this particular program”, he emphasized.

He thus call on the media to continue partnering with the scheme to curb the illegal payment at the various health facilities. 

Mr. A Latif also commended the staff of the NHIA and the media for putting up more efforts towards the growth of the NHIS in the country.
