N/R: NDC calls on IGP to probe Sagnarigu NPP PC over her allege payment of GHS 50,000 to the Security Service

The largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of the Sagnarigu constituency in the Northern Region, has call on the Ghana Police Service and the Electoral Commission (EC) to come out clearly and explain to the people of Sagnarigu constituency how and why Madam Felicia Tettey allegedly paid GHS 50,000 to the Security Service during the limited registration exercise.
According to the NDC they have intercepted an audio recording allegedly coming from the NPP Parliamentary candidate for Sagnarigu constituency Madam Felicia Tettey in which she claimed to have paid Fifty Thousand Ghana cedis (GHS 50,000) to the security service during the just ended limited voter registration exercise.
“We consider this very outrageous and unacceptable,” they said.
The party thus wants to know on what locus was these monies paid to the security service and for what reason was it paid.
Addressing the media on Friday August 9, 2024, the Sagnarigu constituency Communication Officer Mr. Mohammed Amin, stated that the claim by the NPP PC has raised a lot more questions about the Electoral Commission and the Ghana Police Service.
He further alleged that, “it is now very clear that the numerous brutalities and harassment meted out to members of the NDC by the security service was sponsored by the NPP Parliamentary candidate for Sagnarigu constituency, Madam Felicia Tettey”.
“We are therefore by this press conference calling on the IGP through the Regional Police Command and the Sagnarigu Municipal Police Command to open an immediate investigation into the matter,” he called.

Sagnarigu Constituency Communications officer for the National Democratic Congress NDC.
Good afternoon, friends and comrades from the media. Thank very much for your swift response to our call.
Our attention has been drawn to an audio recording allegedly coming from the NPP Parliamentary candidate for Sagnarigu constituency Madam Felicia Tettey in which she claimed to have paid Fifty thousand Ghana cedis (GHS 50,000) to the security service during the recent ended limited voter registration exercise. We consider this a very outrageous and unacceptable. We want to know when has it become the function of NPP to be paying the security service for lawfully performing their duties. We are therefore by this press conference calling on the IGP through the regional police command and the sagnarigu municipal police command to open an immediate investigation into the matter. Again, we want to know on what locus was these money’s paid to the security service and for what reason was it paid. One will be tempted to believe that the police brutalities and their hostile relationship that characterized the registration exercise was sponsored by Madam Felicia Tettey.
Again, the claimed by Madam Felicia Tettey to have paid GHS 50,000 to the security service as NPP Parliamentary candidate during the limited voter registration exercise raises a lot more questions about the electoral commission. In a press release by the chairperson of the electoral commission madam Jean Mensah, we were told that the commission have made adequate security arrangements to police the entire registration period just to ensure that peace prevail at all the registration centers. But in sharp contrast Madam Felicia Tettey claimed of paying GHS 50,000 to the security service revealed that she was rather the one incharge of the security service and not the electoral commission.
If NPP Parliamentary candidate can pay GHS 50,000 to the security service let us imagine what sitting members of Parliament from NPP would also have done. It is now very clear that the numerous brutalities and harassment muted out to members of the NDC by the security service was sponsored by the NPP Parliamentary candidate for Sagnarigu constituency, Madam Felicia Tettey. It is our hope that this matter will be seriously investigated in order to unravel the truth.
This was a national exercise that fall within the mandate of the electoral commission so for any political actor to have claimed to be the one who was paying for the services of the security service is very outrageous and must be investigated.
These are disturbing developments within the Sagnarigu constituency and we want to call on Madam Felicia Tettey to stop putting the name of the Sagnarigu constituency on the spotlight for the bad reasons.
We also want to urge Madam Felicia Tettey that if the kitchen is becoming too hot for her then this will be the best time for her to throw in the towel. The NPP Parliamentary candidate have realized that she has no chance of even be coming closer to winning the Sagnarigu constituency Parliamentary elections and she is now deploying these tactics just to catch public sympathy. You recall that this same Madam Felicia Tettey made the damning revelation of how covid funds were distributed to NPP party apparatchiks in which she got her own share to be in excess of GHS 100,000.
Madam Felicia Tettey has demonstrated time without number that she lacks the character to lead and by large we will say she is suffering from what is known medically as borderline personality disorder (BPD).
Ladies and gentlemen from the media!
We wonder how someone who cannot cohabitate well among 17 NPP Sagnarigu constituency executives will become the people representative for the over 81000 electorate in the Sagnarigu constituency. Madam Felicia Tettey haven crushed many NPP branch executives out of their party who we have gladly welcome to NDC party have now resorted to crushing her own constituency executives. There is a saying in Dagbani that “noo yi kuriti ti yagi o yan kurila o yaanim koba”.
We are very resolute in our quest for transparency and accountability in the Sagnarigu constituency and we will not stand unconcerned for some of these egregious things to continue to happen.
We are by this press conference issuing clarion call to the Ghana police service and electoral commission
Ladies and gentlemen of the media we appreciate your time with us this evening and we say a very big thank you for coming.
Signed
Abdulai Mohammed Amin
Sagnarigu Constituency
Communications officer.
