The Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumbungu Constituency, Professor Hamza Adam, has over the weekend handed over a fully renovated three-unit classroom block and an office complex to the staff and pupils of Cheshagu Basic School of the Kumbungu District in the Northern Region.
The MP undertook a serious renovation work of the school block after his attention was drawn to its devastating state.
Speaking at a short ceremony held at the premises of the school, the MP who doubles as Deputy Ranking Member of Parliament’s Committee on Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, called on parents to invest in their children’s education.
He said education is the bedrock of every development, hence it is important for parents to institute proper investment into their children’s education to better their future. “Education drives other developmental needs; it is indeed the bedrock of every development”.
The MP’s vision is to address the infrastructure deficit confronting the education sector in his constituency.
Prof Hamza Adam pledged his total commitment to investing in the education development of his constituency to empower children to become responsible leaders.
“I know we have numerous challenges, but education is top of my agender as the member of parliament and since I have taken responsibility as MP, I have paid serious attention to the educational sector. I have embarked on a number of activities to improve the sector”.
He thus urge the management of the school and the community members to take proper care of the facility.
On his part, the District Education Director, Mr. Yahaya Sulemana, commended the MP for giving education in the district the needed attention to improve quality education delivery.
The headmaster of the school, Seidu Fuseini while expressing his gratitude to the MP for the gesture, also appealed to the benevolent organizations and philanthropist to support the school with furniture and other learning materials.
In a related development, the Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Professor Hamza Adam, has donated a hundred (100) bags of cement to the management of the Kumbungu Senior High School towards the construction of a fence wall of the school.
The MP, while acknowledging the efforts of the management and the teachers of the school, also commend them for coming out with such an initiative to ensure discipline in the school.
The headmistress of the school, Ms. Josphine Muryang, who received the items on behalf of the school authority thanked the MP for the kind gesture.
