Haruna Iddrisu will not go unopposed , as Prof Bawa Abdul Fatawu filed to contest

The former Minority Leader and Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale South Constituency, Honorable
Haruna Iddrisu, will not go unopposed, as Professor Bawa Abdul Fatawu an educationist of the Tamale Metropolis in the Northern Region, has filed his nomination forms to contest the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries elections in the Tamale South constituency.

Professor Bawa Abdul Fatawu on Tuesday March 21, 2023, was accompanied by some NDC supporters and some branch executives to submit his nomination forms at the constituency office.

Addressing the media, Professor Bawa stated that the constituency is lacking behind in terms of development because, “we haven’t had good MP. In fact,Tamale South look like an orphan constituency. There is no basic amenities, common basic amenities we don’t have it. As if we do not have a representative or we are not part of the country. Very soon we are changing the driver”, he said.

He said the parliamentary results in the Tamale South is draggling in every election year hence, the need to vote out the former minority leader.

“The parliamentary results of Tamale South is draggling every year. In 2008, it was 78,000. 2012, it was 74, 000, and in 2016, it was 72, 000. We are going down. Our projection in 2020 was 70,000, but we had 69,000. It means that we are increasing at a decreasing rate and it means that we need to change the driver”, he added.

He said, the incumbent MP Lawyer Haruna Iddrisu, had failed to improve and empower the lives of the people of the constituency most the especially the youth.

“If you check across the constituency over twenty years, you will not be able to see a brother or sister, in the Prison Service, the Police Service, the Military or even the Fire Service.

Meanwhile, we are supposed to be heavily represented. Why is it happening in other places and not here.

The main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is expected to hold its flagbearer and parliamentary primaries on Saturday May 13, 2023.
