Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints hands over a well furnished Boys Dormitory and Kitchen to Nyohini Children’s Home.

Leadership of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints, has handed over a well-furnished renovated boys’ dormitory and kitchen to the management and staff of the Tamale Children’s Home. 

The renovated project was initiated and fully funded by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to upgrade the facility and ensure the safety of the orphans.

The church initiated the project last year November 2023, after supporting the facility with several food items and other items. 

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Second Councilor Africa West Presidency, Elder Issac K Morrison commended the Nyohini Chief and his elders for ensuring the completion of the project.

He stated that, “as we hand over these renovated facilities, we do so with the hope that our donations will bless these children today and for generations to come. As followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is our mission to promote goodness and support the social, economic, and spiritual well-being of all of God’s children”.

He thus encouraged management of the Tamale Children’s Home and chiefs and people of Nyohini community to pay attention to the facility by putting it into good use.

“We genuinely hope that everyone involved in managing this facility, as well as the broader community, will respect, protect, and nurture these spaces and the resources provided. Our wish is for this gift, given out of love, to last and become a lasting blessing for your community,” he urged. 

On her part, the Acting Director Department of Social Welfare, Annunciata Mz Anglaaere, while thanking the church for the gesture also said the Church assistance has been instrumental in providing a safe, comfortable, and nurturing environment for the children. 

She said the renovated dormitory and kitchen will greatly improve the lives of the children, provide them with a sense of dignity and hope for a brighter future.

“Your commitment towards this project and show of love for these children reminded me of the words of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who taught us that whatever we do to the least of our brothers we do it unto him. The Church’s actions have demonstrated this love and care, and we are forever grateful”, she stated.

 

In his remarks, the Nyohini Chief Naa Abdulai Mohammed, expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints for coming out with such an initiative to provide a decent accommodation for the children.
