Nanton District Assembly distributes Start-up kits to 107 apprentice trainees

Management of the Nanton District Assembly has distributed start-up kits to 107 trainees under the Ghana Enterprise Agency/MasterCard Foundation Business in the Box Project. 

The project financed by the Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA) in collaboration with MasterCard Foundation is aimed at supporting beneficiaries’ trainees to establish their own business at their respective localities to enable them improve their lives. 

The beneficiaries who were drawn from across the district, acquired skills in hairdressing, sewing, auto electronic, fitting, welding among others. 

Addressing the beneficiaries, the Nanton District Chief Executive (DCE), Honorable Abdulai Murtada lauded the initiative saying it would help alleviate poverty within the district. 

“These kits are not just tools. They are symbols of empowerment, providing the necessary resources to transform the dreams of the beneficiaries into reality”.

“On behalf of the Nanton District Assembly, I would like to express our sincere appreciation to His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffu Addo and the Vice President Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia unwavering support of entrepreneurship,” he said.  

In his short remarks, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nanton Constituency, Honorable Hardi Tuferu, tasked the beneficiaries to use the start-up kits to better their lives.

He expressed his gratitude to the NPP government for its commitment towards decreasing youth unemployment in the Nanton District.

The Deputy Minister of Agric, thus called on the people of Nanton constituency to vote for him and the NPP come December 7 to enable him and his party to spearhead more human development in the area. 

Speaking on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Enterprises Agency, the Deputy Northern Regional Manager, Madam Henrietta Zaato Norgah, thanked MasterCard Foundation for their partnership and commitment to empower the youth of the country. 

She said the Government of Ghana, under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, remains steadfast in its commitment in providing sustainable employment opportunities for the youth in the country.

Madam Henrietta revealed that the Ghana Enterprises Agency since 2017, had facilitated the creation of over 109,471 jobs with an impressive 67% beneficiaries’ being women.

She encourage the beneficiaries to use the skills and the resources they have acquired to make a meaningful impact in their various communities. “It won’t be easy but know that your business can grow to great heights with sustained effort”, she reminded.  

Some of the beneficiaries after receiving the items in an interview with diamondfmonline.com expressed their appreciation to the government and the management of the Assembly, as well as the MP, Ghana Enterprises Agency and MasterCard Foundation for the support.

They asked the residents within the Nanton District to rally behind the NPP government and the Member of Parliament of the area in order for other residents to benefit from the initiative.
