Binbiem FC 5-4 Arrow Heads : The Bees fight back in thrilling Naa Gbewaa Charity Cup victory

Division One League side Kumbungu Binbiem FC twice came from behind to seal a thrilling 5-4 penalty shoot-out victory over Kasalgu Arrow Heads in the Maiden Edition of the Naa Gbewaa Charity Cup, organized by Dagbon Excellence Foundation, after a drabbing 3-3 draw in regulation time at the Aliu Mahama Stadium Thursday Night.

Binbiem FC came into the finals after eliminating Real Tamale United (RTU) 2-1, but fell behind through Ziblim Firdaus’ well-taken penalty just after 1 minute of play. Binbiem responded with their own penalty converted by Mohammed Jamal Sumaila four minutes later.

Arrow Heads took the lead after 18 minutes when Pius Aduah tapped in from closed range and Ziblim Firdaus made sure they went into the first half with a comfortable score line when he converted the second penalty on the 45th minute. 

A much-changed Binbiem side then scored two fantastic goals at the start of a frantic second half through Ibrahim Alhassan, levelling to send the game into penalty shootout.

The game’s topsy-turvy nature continued but the two sides couldn’t find the winner. However, Binbiem FC converted all five with Pius Aduah missing for Arrow Heads to crown Binbiem FC winners of the First ever Naa Gbewaa Charity Cup. Kasalgu Arrow Heads captain Ziblim Firdaus took away the Golden Boot for emerging as the goal king after scoring 4 goals in two matches. Christopher Buah of Steadfast FC was adjudged the most promising player, while Real Tamale United’s Goalie Osei Yaw, picked the Golden Gloves. Ibrahim Alhassan of Kumbungu Binbiem FC, who scored two second half goals in the finals won the best player of the competition. They were all presented with trophies and cash amount of GHC200 each.
