Road users in Tamale complain over the abandoned heap of wast on some major roads

Some road users within the Tamale Metropolis have expressed worry over abandoned heap of waste left behind on some major roads after de-silting by some contracted labourers.

According to them, leaving the de-silted waste including sand on the edges of the roads pose threats to human lives and property since a number of accidents have been recorded over the weekends linked to the abandoned waste.

Contracts have been awarded to individuals and companies to de-silt chocked gutters within the Metropolis to allow free flow of waste water and also to ensure a cleaner city.

Lamenting to show host; Mohammed Ibn Abdulla on the Diamond Power Drive, callers questioned if the contractors did not have the capacity to execute those projects and why the urban roads department and the assembly still awarded such people with the contracts.

The callers urged the contractors working on the de-silting projects to ensure that the heaps of sand were urgently cleared to ensure safety on the roads avoidance of accidents.
