Ringleader of TTH attack granted GHC10,000 bail

The lead suspect in the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) attack, Alhaji Baba Alhassan has been granted bail by a Tamale District court.

The court presided over by his honor Anthony Aduku Aidoo granted him bail at a cost of 10,000 Ghana cedis with three sureties, of which two of them must be on government payroll and not earn less than 1,000 Ghana cedis a month.

In addition, they are expected to submit all their travelling documents to the court.
Alhaji Baba Alhassan has been charged with unlawful entry to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, conspiracy to commit crime and with stealing.

Whiles Police in Tamale are still hunting other suspects, Alhaji Baba Alhassan is expected to reappear in court on September 3, 2018.

It will be recalled that, some aggrieved youth suspected to be members of the Kandaher youth group and other NPP affiliate youth group in Tamale stormed and flashed out the Chief Executive Officer of the Tamale Teaching Hospital, David Kolblia from his office.

Dr. Kolblia has been accused of incompetence and mismanagement of his office, by the youth group.

Meanwhile, there was heavy security presence around the court when the case was called.

In a related development, the Tamale Teaching Hospital has returned to normal operations as medical staffs are attending to patients including out patients.

Medical staff of the t TTH had resorted to a strike action following the attack and given conditions including the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators as well as the establishment of a police post before them would resume work, but following pleas from well meaning voices, they rescinded their position.
