REGSEC TOURS NAKPACHIE ENVIRONS WHERE VIOLENCE ERUPTED BETWEEN SOME KOKOMBAS AND DAGOMBAS

The Northern Regional Security Council, REGSEC has been to the Nakpachie community near Yendi, where violence broke out on Wednesday resulting in one death and destruction of several properties.

The REGSEC headed by the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed toured the area to have firsthand information on the conflict and also to appeal for restrains from the interested sides to allow the security personnel to properly handle the issue.

A dusk to dawn curfew was place on the area following a clash between Dagombas and Konkombas in the Nakpachie community which led to the death of one male, Adams Alhassan, said to the chief Iman of the community.

Some family compounds were also torched in the violence, thereby forcing women and children to flee the conflict.

The confusion which erupted when some pigs belonging to a konkomba man trampled on a maize farm belonging to the Dagomba man, who also shot and killed one of the pigs.

This sparked a misunderstanding between the two persons and later resulted in a reprisal from the konkombas in the community

The Police and military intervened while two persons are in the custody for the police pending further investigations for their roles in the Nakpachie violence.
