The Executive secretary of the Northern regional peace council, Rev. Fr. Thaddeus Kusaah has urged the media to desist from giving unnecessary attention to the Komkomba youth association and the Anufor youth movement as part of the peace building process among the two ethnic groups.
He explained that, the continuous publication of provocative statements from the two youth groups thus thwarts efforts towards building the peace in addition to this becoming a tool to incite the people to seeking revenge through the barrel of the gun.
He comments comes days after the Kokomba youth association held a press conference with a counter one from the Anufor youth movement in which the two sides accuse one another of peddling falsehood regarding the protracted conflict between the two ethnic groups.
Speaking to Diamond News in an interview, Rev. Fr. Thadeus urged the media to use their platforms to propagate the message of peace in order to ensure lasting peace in the Chereponi and the Saboba area.
Rev. Fr. Thaddeus also urged the Konkomba youth association and the Anufor youth movement to focus their efforts on educating their people on the need for peace and development of their communities.
He also urged influential individuals from the two ethnic groups to join efforts towards bringing lasting peace to Chereponi and Saboba.
